Engineers at Statler College are propelling exploration forward by creating control software for a group of aerial robots (aerobots) that will survey the atmosphere Venus, the second planet from the sun.

WVU engineers seek ways to prevent rockfalls on rural roads

Drivers on winding West Virginia roads often encounter road damage caused by rockfalls, even if they aren’t present when the rocks tumble down the hillside. Statler College researchers hope to cut down on these events, as a pair of engineers have examined countermeasures considered useful in mitigating rockfalls, which can result in vehicle damage, traffic disruptions and injury or death to motorists.

Srivastava named IEE Fellow for power grid resilience technology

Anurag Srivastava, professor and chairperson of the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in the Statler College, has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.

WVU-led Dolly Sods GPU cluster to drive new frontiers of computational research in physics and astronomy, drug discovery, data science and more

A graphics processing unit computer cluster called “Dolly Sods” will enable researchers throughout the state to accelerate computational research in fields such as drug development, interstellar phenomena, biometrics, material design and business logistics and management.

The holiday season is a time for rest, reflection and gratitude. On behalf of the Statler College, I would like to wish all of you a happy holiday season. Please enjoy your holiday break, and I hope you find some time to relax and enjoy time with your family and friends. You deserve it! Even in light of a challenging year, we have so much to celebrate and be grateful for.

I would like to express my sincerest thanks to the faculty, staff and students of the College for their incredible hard work and dedication over the past year. Their dedication and commitment to West Virginia University inspires me every day. We are so proud of what the Statler College has accomplished, and we could not have done it without your strong support. As 2021 comes to a close, we have set even higher goals for 2022, and I am confident that we have the best team to help achieve them!
