Dear friends and colleagues,
On behalf of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, I wish you a happy holiday season. As we come to the end of 2023, we invite you to celebrate with us the accomplishments of our faculty, staff and students throughout the year.
Our featured story highlights an exciting new cybersecurity education and training facility established in the college, with the support of $750,000 from the United States Department of Education, that offers cutting-edge opportunities to our students. Additionally, we are proud to announce the generous contribution of our alumnus, Herb Dripps, who established the Dripps Faculty Fellowship to support and recognize some of our outstanding junior faculty members. Moreover, this month, we feature two exceptional faculty members — Amy McBrayer recognized as the 2023 Michael Karmis Ph.D. Fellow by the Society of Mining Professors, and Konstantinos Sierros, named fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining.
On December 16, we celebrated our August and December graduates at the 2023 December Commencement ceremony. I am extremely proud of each student, and I am confident that they will apply the skills, knowledge and experiences from our college to make a positive impact on the world.
I would like to express my sincerest appreciation to our faculty, staff and students for their incredible hard work and dedication over the past year. I am immensely proud of all we have accomplished in the college, and I know that it would not have been possible without their unwavering support.
I wish you all a happy and joyous holiday season, and I look forward to seeing what new heights we can achieve together in the coming year!
Let’s go!
