Dear friends and colleagues,
The New Year is here and full of excitement as we welcome back students for the spring semester here at the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.
I know that our students, faculty, researchers and staff will accomplish great things in 2023, and we are already off to a great start. Our faculty, staff, and students continue to be recognized at the national level.
Michelle Poland was recently recognized by the National Academic Advising Association for her demonstrated passion and dedication to helping students throughout their academic journeys. Her commitment as an adviser earned her a Region 3 Advising Administrator Certificate of Merit, marking the first advising administrator award for WVU from NACADA, since the inception of its advising awards in 2005.
Furthermore, Brook Woldegabriel, a graduate research assistant for the Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been selected for the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program. The program recognizes the nation's brightest minds to the field of transportation and will support Brook as he expands upon his research on press-brake-formed tub girder bridges, a simplistic and affordable bridge model that was developed in part at WVU.
These are just a few examples of the outstanding achievements of everyone in the college. I continue to be incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication and all they do for our college and University.
It's a great start to the spring semester and I know more exciting things are on the horizon for us here at the College.
Let's Go!
