Dear Alumni, Colleagues, and Friends:

Greetings from Morgantown!

Until a few weeks ago, Morgantown was wrapped in beautiful shades of red, pink, yellow, and green fall colors, and now with the end of the fall semester quickly approaching, we are getting ready for the winter.

I was officially appointed as the Chair of the IMSE department this fall after serving as an interim chair for one year. During my tenure as the interim chair, the IE program has had a successful ABET visit, and we started several new initiatives that are now seeing fruition. We have launched a new MS degree program in Engineering Management, three new faculty members joined the IMSE family and our students continued to bring back laurels by winning competitions at the national and international levels. I have highlighted a few recent student and faculty success stories and departmental updates in this fall newsletter.

As we move into the spring semester and the new year, the IMSE department will double down on its efforts to have student-centric career development and professional mentorship activities. The department will hire new faculty members to support its ongoing expansion and the strategic initiative of enriching graduate research and education. We will also continue exploring opportunities for online graduate programs to support working professionals' pedagogical and advanced training needs.

The IMSE department is solely committed to the success of its students, faculty and alumni and as the department aspires and work towards moving it forward to achieve greater heights, your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Please feel free to reach out to me with your thoughts/suggestions on further improving and taking the IMSE department forward.

I wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy and safe holiday season.

My very best to you all!

Warm regards,

Ashish Nimbarte
