A new report by the National Science Foundation ranked the Statler College 84th in research expenditures among 404 engineering programs surveyed. As an R1 – or very high research activity — classified institution, WVU ranks amongst the most elite research universities in the United States. The NSF R&D expenditure survey is one of the keys elements that contributes to the prestigious designation.

Pedro Mago, Glen H. Hiner dean of the Statler College, announced the winners of the College’s outstanding teaching, research and advising awards for the 2021 academic year at a virtual ceremony, which took place on April 8.

Piyush Mehta, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Berk Tulu, assistant professor in the Department of Mining Engineering, were appointed the three-year positions, which provides funds to support and grow their respective research programs.

The $1.7 million legacy gift from James and Catherine Eliades Faller, of Newark, Delaware, provides an endowed scholarship for chemical engineering majors with a demonstrated financial need, and a new endowment for the James and Catherine Faller Chemical Engineering Graduate Fellowship.
