The shortage of natural pollinators, such as bees, is threatening global food production around the world, making it difficult to feed an ever-growing human population. Researchers at the Statler College have come up with a plan B to this decline in pollinators by creating a robotic pollinator.

WVU wins fourth SME Mine Rescue Competition

The Statler College Mine Rescue Gold Team took home its fourth straight first place finish in the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration – 2021 Eastern Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition.

Integrating music and science: WVU student releases album alongside interactive video game

A student in the Statler College released his second full-length album with an interactive video game experience that helps tackle the uncertainties ahead for all living beings.

Dear friends and colleagues,

As Thanksgiving approaches and we near winter break and the holiday season, I am extremely thankful for the hard work and dedication displayed by our students, faculty and staff in the pursuit of knowledge and their contributions to the success of the the Statler College.

The articles presented in this issue of EngineeringWV Wired showcase the outstanding interdisciplinary research done in the College, the creativity of our students and exciting projects happening on our campus.

On Friday, Nov. 19, the College held a formal dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Lane Innovation Hub housed in the Engineering Sciences Building. The new center, established by Ray and Stephanie Lane, offers a complete suite of services and facilities where students can fabricate and build a working prototype. The Lane Innovation Hub is a transformational asset to West Virginia University, and will open new doors students of all ages in West Virginia. We are so excited to share this new resource on campus.
