Dean's Message

Dear friends and colleagues,

We have had an excellent start to the new fall semester. Our faculty, staff, and students have been buzzing through the halls as we open the doors to our classrooms and labs — introducing a new frontier of engineering and computer science to our students.

In this issue of EngineeringWV Wired, we are excited to announce our new online MS in Artificial Intelligence program. This program will guide our students through the foundations of AI, integrating machine learning and ethics that will impact healthcare, energy, robotics, cybersecurity, and many other fields. We have also created two new minors, Sales Engineering and Technology Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the Chambers College of Business and Economics, to provide more academic opportunities for WVU students and enhance their competitiveness in the global job market.

Even though it is the start of classes, our Statler College community continues to excel nationally and internationally. Our Advising team received the highest honor — the National Academic Advising Association Outstanding Advising Program Award. Speaking of recognitions, our Mountaineers@Work Team traveled to Brazil for the first time to clinch 4th place in the international RoboCup@Work competition. Mountaineers@Work was one of 9 teams to compete globally, and the only team from North America to qualify for this year's competition. Congratulations to all of them!

We are off to a thrilling start to a new semester, and I can't wait to see what our faculty, staff, students, and alumni accomplish next!

Let's Go!
