Caporali-Filho named director of industrial hygiene program at WVU
Sergio Caporali-Filho, a two-time graduate of the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, was selected as the new director of the industrial hygiene program at West Virginia University’s School of Public Health. He appointment began in the summer of 2022.
Caporali-Filho, received his undergraduate degree in industrial hygiene from the University of Lima in 1994. He then moved to Morgantown in 199 to pursue further education at WVU. He earned a master’s degree in occupational hygiene and occupational safety in 2001, and a PhD in industrial engineering in 2002, both from the Statler College.
After college, Caporali-Filho worked from WVU Extension Safety and Health until 2003, when he received an offer to teach in Puerto Rico. He lived there for 19 years, during which time he ran the industrial hygiene program for the University of Puerto Rico for eight years before returning to the U.S. to work at WVU.
