Dean's Message Spring 2023

Dean Mago with students

In the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, we envision a secure, sustainable, and healthy world engineered by innovators who explore and create a prosperous future. Our College continues to be at the forefront of cutting-edge research, from developing technologies to protect our power grids or finding solutions to some of healthcare's most significant issues to pursuing renewable energy sources and other exciting areas. We are proud of our researchers who are making a substantial difference by addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our society.

But let’s get down to business...

One of our top priorities is the educational success of our students. We are proud of their ingenuity and committed to providing an entrepreneurial ecosystem where they can foster creativity and turn ideas into reality. The feature article in this magazine, "Let's Get Down to Business," highlights the businesses of five engineering students who are going above and beyond to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams while balancing rigorous academic schedules. In true Mountaineer fashion, these students are dedicated to creating innovative solutions, products, and programs, and I look forward to watching their businesses thrive and how their ideas will help create a better future for the next generations.

As the Dean, I continue to be inspired by the Statler College community. There is a deep passion and pride in being a Mountaineer, and I am incredibly proud of our students, faculty, and staff's dedication and commitment to our mission. Their work is outstanding, and our College continues to evolve because of their efforts.

I invite you to explore our new Engineering WV Magazine to learn more about the transformative advancements taking place in our College. This is an exciting time in the College, and I want to thank you for being a part of the Statler College community and all you do for our College and WVU!

Let's Go!
