Statler alumnus returns home to serve as WVU Tech Campus President

T.Ramon Stuart

T. Ramon Stuart, an alumnus of the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and accomplished administrator, was selected as the next campus president at West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Stuart, originally from Welch, began his new role on January 1, 2023.

Stuart holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s degree in industrial hygiene from the Statler College and a doctorate in higher education administration from the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education at Ohio University. He has published articles and presented on leadership, institutional decision making, shared governance, enrollment and retention, among many other higher education topics.

Stuart most recently served as the president of Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. Prior to his role at Clayton State, he served as the provost and vice president of academic affairs at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. Before moving to Georgia, Stuart served in the provost’s office at West Virginia State University in a variety of roles including associate provost and associate vice president for academic affairs. He also served as a faculty member teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at WVSU, West Virginia State Community and Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
