Statler College ranked 24th in nation for value

For the third straight year, West Virginia University’s Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has been ranked in the top 25 of all engineering school in the country for offering the best value for the money for undergraduate degree programs in engineering according to rankings released today (September 8, 2016) by College Factual, an online guide to the college selection process.

The College ranked 24th out of 293 engineering schools for offering a “quality education at a price that will keep student debt to a minimum.” It was also ranked as the 40th most popular school in the nation for engineering (out of 553) and in the top third overall in the site’s rankings of engineering schools that provide graduates with a quality education.

“I’m proud to see the Statler College continue to be recognized for its efforts to provide a quality education to its students at a fair cost,” said Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College. “We’ve worked diligently to ensure that costs remain low, while providing our students with a quality, competitive and exciting learning environment.”

The College’s computer science program was ranked 16th for best value, placing it in the top 10 percent of all programs nationwide. Industrial engineering, which was ranked 22nd for best value, also placed in the top 10 percent nationwide for most popular programs. Other programs in the top 50 for best value include aerospace engineering (22), computer engineering (25), civil engineering (41) and mechanical engineering (46).

College Factual considers a number of outcomes-based factors to determine the ranking, including average student loan debt, student retention and graduation rates, and graduates’ starting salaries and earning potential.
