Ameri reappointed chair of petroleum and natural gas engineering
Samuel Ameri was recently reappointed as chair of the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at West Virginia University for a five-year term, beginning July 1, 2017.
“I am beyond grateful for the continued opportunity to lead the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering for another five-year term,” said Ameri. “I am also greatly humbled by the trust and faith in me that the dean and the University's leadership continues to display, and I will strive to surpass their expectations. I take my role and the responsibility I carry very seriously, and look forward to the bright future ahead for our students, faculty and WVU.”
“Professor Ameri has done an excellent job engaging his faculty in helping him with important aspects of departmental operations, activities and initiatives. He is a strong student advocate—they have deep admiration for him—and he is admired by PNGE alumni for his caring and unselfish attitude,” said Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. “He ensures appropriate quality standards are maintained in PNGE and his insight and leadership are appreciated college-wide as well.”
Department chairs are reviewed every five years by the dean of the college. Evaluations include input from faculty members, staff, students and other constituents.
