For the fourth straight year, West Virginia University’s Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has been ranked in the top 10 percent of all engineering schools nationwide for offering the best value for the money for undergraduate degree programs.

The rankings, released by College Factual, an online guide to the college selection process, ranked the College 28th out of 302 engineering schools for offering a “quality education at a price that will keep student debt to a minimum.” It was also ranked as the 44th most popular school in the nation for engineering (out of 582), placing it in the top 10 percent of all programs nationwide.

“To be consistently recognized for our efforts to provide a quality education at a fair cost is very gratifying,” said Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College. “Our faculty and staff work diligently to provide our students with an exciting learning environment that makes them very marketable in a competitive global workplace.”

The College’s computer science program was ranked 27th for best value, placing it in the top 10 percent of all programs nationwide. Other programs in the top 50 for best value include aerospace engineering (23) and computer engineering (28). Industrial engineering, which was ranked 34th for best value, also placed in the top 10 percent nationwide for most popular programs.

College Factual considers a number of outcomes-based factors to determine the ranking, including average student loan debt, student retention and graduation rates, and graduates’ starting salaries and earning potential.
