Statler College Circuit - Department Digest and Awards

Office of Student, Faculty and Staff Engagement

The Toiletries Fundraising Campaign and the Promotion Food Drive Campaign took place from Sept. 5 to Oct. 15. Together, these efforts raised over 600 individual items to support our students’ needs. These products are now available at our Rack@Statler through our partnership with the Advising Center. The champion unit with the highest number of donations goes to the Fundamentals of Engineering Program.


Chemical and Biomedical Engineering

Assistant Professor Soumya Srivastava from the chemical and biomedical engineering department and her students were recognized for their achievements at the SciX Annual Meeting in Raleigh, NC. Receiving three poster awards from a pool of 120 participants, Alexa Bostic, a junior in biomedical engineering, secured 3rd place; Raphael Oladokun, a Ph.D. student in chemical engineering, was awarded the best presentation and also earned an honorable mention for his poster; and Sai Deepika Reddy Yaram, a Ph.D. student in chemical engineering, took 1st place.  The SciX conference is highly valued by attendees for its technical program, world-class exhibits, and many career-building networking opportunities.

Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering

Professor Donald Adjeroh delivered the keynote address at the 17th International Conference on Social Computing, Behavioral-Cultural Modeling and Prediction, and Behavior Representation in Modeling and Simulation at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, in late September 2024. The keynote, titled "Bodymetrics, Social Media, and Artificial Intelligence in Human Health," was presented at this prestigious international conference.
