Chemical and Biomedical Engineering

Poulomi Das for received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Women in Chemical Engineering Travel Award for the 2025 Annual Meeting in Boston. Award winners will receive complimentary registration to the 2025 AIChE Annual Meeting, 1 year of complimentary AIChE membership, and $800 towards travel expenses to Boston, MA.


Industrial and Management Systems Engineering

Two teams from our Industrial Engineering (IE) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) programs participated in the 11th edition of the Race 2 the Case competition, which combines elements of an Amazing Race with case competition challenges. We are incredibly proud of both teams for their engagement, commitment, hard work, and professionalism. Congratulations to Sophia Baird (IE), and Tyler Fetty (IE), Alia Ott (SCM), and Alexandra Pomykala (SCM), for securing second place in the competition. The University of Maryland took first place, while Ohio State University came in third. This accomplishment marks the fifth first-place finish and one second-place finish for WVU teams in the history of this competition.


Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering

Research Assistant Ahsan Habib Akash, electrical engineering graduate student Rizwan Ahamed and Assistant Professor Prashnna Gyawali have secured 2nd place in the Multi-Camera Robust Diagnosis of Fundus Diseases Challenge, held from June 30 to August 23, 2025, and awarded at the 28th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI 2025) in Daejeon, South Korea. 

Program Director of Software Engineering in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Dale Dzielski received the IEEE Standards Association Certificate of Outstanding Contribution to the Development of this Crucial Industry Standard. 


Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering

Jason Gross, Chair of the Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering Department, participated in The Chancellor's STEM Speaker Series hosted by the WV HEPC, Science, Technology, and Research (STaR) division.

Camndon Reed, an undergraduate student in Robotics engineering, presented a paper at the 2025 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) in Hangzhou, China. In addition, his paper was selected as a finalist for the Best Paper Application Award.
