Cook appointed director of development for the Statler College
The Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University, announced the appointment of Crystal Cook to director of development effective January 7, 2024.

“As a proud West Virginian and WVU alum, my connection to the university and the state fuels my desire to contribute to its growth and success,” Cook stated. “The chance to help the Statler College grow its programs, attract top-tier talent and enhance its reputation is a challenge that excites me.”
Cook earned her a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies from WVU and is currently pursuing her master’s in integrated marketing and communications in the Reed School of Media and Communications.
Earlier in her career, Cook held the development coordinator position for the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College Foundation since 2019. Prior to this role, she was a leader in local and state organizations — serving as president of the City of Madison Development Authority, driving economic development in her hometown of Madison.
"My passion for development makes me eager to contribute to the college's future success as director of development,” Cook explained.
In this position, Cook will serve on the College’s development team alongside Executive Director of Development Tammy Cavarretta, to engage alumni, friends, parents, corporations and foundations in support of the College.
“Crystal is a great fit to help Statler College provide support for WVU engineering and computer science students and faculty,” Cavarretta said. “In addition to her enthusiasm for higher education, WVU and Statler College programs, Crystal’s outstanding skills in marketing, networking and fundraising sets her apart to support students from West Virginia and beyond.”
