MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—

The Charleston resident, who founded Northeast Natural Energy in 2009, is currently the company’s president and CEO.

A 1981 graduate of WVU with a degree in petroleum engineering, John previously served as vice president of operations for Chesapeake Energy’s Eastern Division from 2005-2009 where he was instrumental in the drilling, completion and operation of the company’s initial 100 horizontal Marcellus wells across Appalachia.

Prior to joining Chesapeake, John held various senior executive roles at Triana Energy/Columbia Natural Resources, where he also served on the company’s Board of Directors until Columbia Natural Resources was sold to Chesapeake in 2005.

Also at the Foundation Board’s quarterly meeting, outgoing member Alan Zuccari (’73) of McLean, Virginia, was recognized for his service to the Board. Zuccari has been a member since 2011.

The mission of the WVU Foundation, founded in 1954, is to enrich the lives of those touched by West Virginia University by maximizing charitable support and providing services to the University, its students and affiliated organizations.
