The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering has recognized Ashish Nimbarte, Industrial and Management Systems department chair, as a 2025 fellow for his contributions to education, research and innovation. The industry’s primary professional society, the IISE Council of Fellows represents many prominent members of the industrial engineering profession. IISE was established in 1948 to advance and unite industrial engineers around the world.

"Dr. Nimbarte is a dedicated and valued member of our academic community, and it is wonderful to see him recognized by IISE," said Glen H. Hiner Dean Pedro Mago. "This honor is well-deserved and reflects his outstanding contributions to education, research, and innovation. It also highlights the high caliber of excellence in research and professional service found among our leadership here at the Statler College.”
Nimbarte, IMSE professor and graduate program coordinator at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, joined WVU in 2009 and has served as chair since 2022. This recognition highlights Nimbarte’s sustained record of excellence in research, leadership and professional service.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition,” Nimbarte said. “I share this award with my graduate students for their diligent efforts, who have helped me grow as a researcher. It is a significant career and professional milestone for me, and I hope it further motivates me and my colleagues to continue to strengthen Statler’s industrial engineering program and elevate IMSE to new heights.”
In addition to his steadfast commitment to professional excellence, Nimbarte leads academic and community initiatives like the Pollution Prevention group at WVU — a program that works with small and medium businesses seeking to reduce waste and make manufacturing processes more sustainable. He serves as senior editor and an editorial board member of five peer-reviewed industrial engineering journals, and is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
“I express my sincere gratitude to my advisor, Dr. Aghazadeh, for his steadfast support, encouragement and mentorship throughout the years,” Nimbarte added. “Additionally, I would like to extend my appreciation to my colleagues in the IMSE department, the Statler College and Dean Mago for the guidance, mentorship and support they have provided throughout my academic journey.”
Fellows were recognized at the 2025 IISE Annual Conference and Expo held in Atlanta, GA in early June.
