WVU is recruiting undergraduate students from across the United States to join a summer research immersion experience that explores topics of road infrastructure through the use of “digital twin” technologies. The students will learn to use virtual models to mirror real-world streets and highways in their future careers as the civil engineers building America’s roads.

In a collaborative effort, WVU colleges, departments and units are coming together to form WVU Cyber — a first-of-its-kind interdisciplinary initiative that unites different types of cyber-related research and study across the WVU System to tackle security, economic and workforce challenges.

Dear friends and colleagues,
In this issue of EngineeringWV Wired, we showcase how our programs and experiential learning opportunities reach around the globe, exemplified by the online MS program in Cybersecurity and our feature on student competition teams competing internationally.
Even though the reach spans the globe, our events have a significant impact right here in our backyard. Over the past month, we have connected and opened the doors of collaboration. First, the All Voices as One Conference brought together students and alumni through networking, demonstrations, and a keynote lecture from WVU alumna Diane Sherrard. We also connected with local and regional K-12 students through our 36th annual Pumpkin Drop, bringing the minds of our future to our campus to solve problems and try not to smash a few pumpkins along the way.
Our first annual Industry Day featured some of Statler College's top researchers, students, and industry professionals, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The event included lab tours, student presentations, and insightful discussions throughout the day, all designed to foster problem-solving through future collaborations. In addition, the WVU community had an excellent turnout at the Mountain State Cyber Summit, which brought together academia and industry to showcase the vast knowledge and expertise of our cybersecurity experts.
As we reflect on all the exciting developments this November, I hope you take the time to enjoy all that the holiday season has to offer for you and your loved ones.
Let's Go!
