Two new minors in sales engineering and technology entrepreneurship are paving the way for exciting interdisciplinary opportunities at West Virginia University.

The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering has recognized Ashish Nimbarte, Industrial and Management Systems department chair, as a 2025 fellow for his contributions to education, research and innovation.  The industry’s primary professional society, the IISE Council of Fellows represents many prominent members of the industrial engineering profession. IISE was established in 1948 to advance and unite industrial engineers around the world.

A West Virginia University alumna is expanding opportunities for future students to gain hands-on research experience with gifts to her alma mater totaling $2.15 million.

Teaching assistant professor Omar Al-Shebeeb, from the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at West Virginia University’s Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, has been named the North Central Section 2025 Early Career Outstanding Educator by the American Society for Engineering Education.

On Sunday May 18, 432 new Statler alumni join an elite group of innovators and leaders around the globe. The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources awarded diplomas to 371 undergraduates and 61 grad students, helping them begin their careers and transitions to creating positive change in the world.

Eight remarkable members of the West Virginia University Class of 2025 who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence and by making significant contributions on campus, across the Mountain State and beyond have been honored with the Order of Augusta, the most prestigious University student award.

The West Virginia University Student Employee Appreciation Committee proudly recognizes Chayce Hill, a junior chemical engineering major, and Nishat Alam, a doctoral student in industrial engineering, as the Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year and Graduate Student Employee of the Year, respectively. 

A brotherly bond and desire to give back will provide scholarship opportunities for students at the West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.
