This month we’re excited to introduce our alumnus, Mr. John Mazzone, a distinguished 1983 graduate of the Materials, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at West Virginia University.  

Two talented and accomplished undergraduate students have been endorsed by West Virginia University for the British Marshall Scholarship.

As students begin their engineering journeys, many grapple with their understanding of the discipline and how it relates to their identity as engineers. Researchers at  West Virginia University are focused on empowering students in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources with tools, resources and services to support and retain them beyond their first year.

Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health Chris Williamson will visit the West Virginia University Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies in Core, West Virginia, on Oct. 30 to acknowledge accomplishments in mine emergency preparedness.

Over 1,000 K-12 students vied for victory at the 35th annual Pumpkin Drop hosted by the  West Virginia University  Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Polypropylene, a plastic used in everything from car parts and lawn chairs to food packaging and clothing, may soon become more environmentally friendly because of West Virginia University research. 

If Stumptown Ales owner Cindy Robeson got a college experience do-over, she’d pick West Virginia University without hesitation. Her confidence in that choice, she said, comes from watching three of her children blossom on the Morgantown Campus.

Piyush Mehta, associate professor in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University, has been named to the newly elected Class of 2025 Associate Fellows of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and appointed to the Space Weather Advisory Group — a Federal Advisory Committee for the White House Space Weather Operations, Research and Mitigation subcommittee. 

The West Virginia University Foundation is honoring three individuals and a local corporation with 2024 Outstanding Philanthropy Awards for their tremendous generosity, leadership and dedication.
