Building on the success of its
Fundamentals of Engineering program for freshmen, the
Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at
West Virginia University has opened an Advising Center for sophomores,
juniors and seniors.
Research conducted by Saiph Savage , the J. Wayne and Kathy Richards Faculty Fellow in Engineering at West Virginia University, received honorable mention for best paper at the Association for Computing Machinery’s CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems.

Rural communities in United States and elsewhere often use portable backup electricity generators in case of power outages. But these machines can be costly to run for longer times and require periodic attendance. A team from West Virginia University is developing a small, natural gas-powered generator that will be able to run for years.
Not only did representatives from West Virginia University’s student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers perform extremely well at the Region 2 Student Activities Conference, they earned the right to host it in 2019.
