A dedicated West Virginia University alum and his wife are expanding support for engineering education and athletics with gifts totaling $175,000.

Our Alumni Who Inspire series is a program created to honor the alumni community of the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources here at West Virginia University. This month we’re honored to feature electrical engineering alumna Zahra Ronaghi and highlight her legacy.

West Virginia University students pursuing degrees in education, engineering, nursing and oral health care will benefit from a generous alumni couple’s planned gifts totaling $2 million.

A West Virginia University alumna is expanding opportunities for future students to gain hands-on research experience with gifts to her alma mater totaling $2.15 million.

On Sunday May 18, 432 new Statler alumni join an elite group of innovators and leaders around the globe. The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources awarded diplomas to 371 undergraduates and 61 grad students, helping them begin their careers and transitions to creating positive change in the world.

The eighth annual Day of Giving inspired alumni of West Virginia University to contribute to dozens of University initiatives, far surpassing records from previous years. Among the loyal Mountaineers dedicated to supporting the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources were Diane and David Sherrard, a 1994 alumna of the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and 1993 alumnus of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering, respectively. Their generous donation will bolster the Statler College’s initiatives tailored for K-12 teachers to deepen their knowledge and gain experience in engineering fields.

The alumni of the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University (WVU) are more than a network — they’re our community. Whether they graduated last year or decades ago, our alumni continue to inspire, connect and help us create a lasting impact on Mountaineers to come.

Students at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University will have access to even greater learning opportunities thanks to the opening of the state-of-the-art IDEMIA National Security Solutions Biometrics Lab, a hub for research, teaching and innovation within the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

A brotherly bond and desire to give back will provide scholarship opportunities for students at the West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Beth (Gochenour) Correll, former supply chain and finance leader at The Hershey Company and founder of Step Function Coaching, will deliver the annual Gochenour Lecture in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering on Friday, April 4 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in room 414 of Evansdale Crossing on the Evansdale Campus.
