As a native West Virginian, Kimberly Morris grew up knowing she was destined to become a Mountaineer. What she didn’t know was that one day she would be graduating from the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources with two degrees and a thriving small business. 

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources was selected by the U.S. Department of Labor to receive a grant as part of an initiative to fund mine safety awareness, education and training in key mining industry states.  

Two Mine Rescue teams from West Virginia University’s Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources took home top honors in the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration – 2022 Eastern Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition. The event was held on October 29, in Julian.  

West Virginia University Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Mine Rescue Gold Team took home its fourth straight first place finish in the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration – 2021 Eastern Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition.

Mining engineering undergraduate students in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources have been selected for scholarships by the Gimme Foundation and Martin Marietta to support their academic studies at West Virginia University.
