Eight members of the West Virginia University Class of 2024 who have made remarkable achievements across academic disciplines while using the power of purpose to serve others and foster innovation for a sustainable future are among the talented student leaders honored with the Order of Augusta, the most prestigious University student award.

Pedro Mago, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University, announced the winners of the College’s outstanding teaching, advising, faculty and graduate student researchers, staff and Dean’s fellowship awards for the 2023-2024 academic year on April 9, 2024. 

The Office of Graduate Education and Life announced the winners of the annual Three-Minute Thesis Competition, which was held on April 3 during WVU Graduate Student Appreciation Week and Research Week.

A study by engineers at West Virginia University demonstrated that people’s completion of monotonous assembly tasks improved when doing those tasks involved playing a game.

The Alumni Who Inspire! program recognizes Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and West Virginia University alumni for their dedication to their professions. 

A team at the Industrial Assessment Center at the Department of Industrial Management Systems Engineering in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources has received $450,000 as a part of the funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to BridgeValley Community and Technical College in Charleston. The funding, which totals $3 million over three years, will go toward the development of an industrial assessment center at BCTC.

Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources alumnus Sergio Caporali-Filho joins the West Virginia University Extension Safety and Health team as an Extension Specialist and associate professor. However, this isn’t his first time being a part of this team.

Chantelle Moore, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hutchinson Industries Defense and Mobility Solutions, will deliver the annual Gochenour Lecture in the  Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering on Thursday, November 2 at 3:30 p.m. in room 113 of the Mineral Resources Building on the Evansdale Campus.
