The event was held on August 25-27, in Sao Paolo, Brazil, during the third annual Student Congress, an international seminar hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Power and Energy Society.
MSHA assistant secretary to deliver Poundstone Lecture
David G. Zatezalo, assistant secretary of Mine Safety and Health, will speak on Thursday, September 20, as part of West Virginia University’s Department of Mining Engineering’s William N. Poundstone Lecture Series. The lecture, entitled “MSHA in Review and Forecast of Priorities,” will begin at 5 p.m., in Grand Hall A, of the Erickson Alumni Center.
Online master’s program pays dividends for safety management grads
This past May, hundreds of engineering students from West Virginia University walked across the stage in the WVU Coliseum to receive their diplomas. Included in that group were the first graduates of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources online program in safety management.
Jutla part of international effort to predict where cholera will strike next
Antar Jutla, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at West Virginia University, is part of a British-led humanitarian team that is working to predict and prevent a major outbreak of cholera in war-torn Yemen.
