For their loyalty and service to West Virginia University, six Mountaineers will be inducted into the Order of Vandalia during a Friday (June 7) ceremony.

Recipients of the Ruby Scholars Graduate Fellows program at West Virginia University are conducting impactful research focused on enhancing public health, ensuring food safety, improving cancer treatment and more. Yet, many of these students may have never found their purpose without opportunities to engage in undergraduate research and private support to help them pursue their passions.

WHAT: West Virginia University will co-host the 2024 Mine Drainage Task Force Symposium and 15th International Mine Water Association Congress, bringing together mining, water and reclamation experts from around the world who will provide the latest updates on research, regulations and practices involving mine drainage, water quality and rare earth element extraction.

Economically distressed McDowell County is one target of a West Virginia University program to connect high school and community college students and others new to the workforce with well-paid jobs in the water sector, which is in urgent need of workers.

Pedro Mago, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University, announced the winners of the College’s outstanding teaching, advising, faculty and graduate student researchers, staff and Dean’s fellowship awards for the 2023-2024 academic year on April 9, 2024. 

The Office of Graduate Education and Life announced the winners of the annual Three-Minute Thesis Competition, which was held on April 3 during WVU Graduate Student Appreciation Week and Research Week.
