Vijay named SEI Fellow

The campaign for
West Virginia University
Student Government Association ended Wednesday evening (March 9) as the
SGA Judicial Court certified Chloe Hernandez and Pareera Uqaily as president and
vice president, respectively, for the 2022-23 academic year. The pair represents
the first female-minority ticket to win an SGA presidential election.
At the beginning of 2022 Amazon announced it would send Alexa to space as part of
Artemis I, the first in a series of increasingly complex missions that will enable
human exploration of the Moon and Mars. As a collaboration between Amazon, Lockheed
Martin and Cisco, many engineers are integrating Alexa into deep space missions,
including a
West Virginia University alumnus.
In celebration of the 2022 Black History Month theme – Black Health and Wellness – theBenjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources invited Professor Anthony Guiseppi-Elie, founding dean of Anderson University College of Engineering, to speak on interfacing biology and engineering, his personal story as a Black engineer and entrepreneur, and how he is making a difference in science and education.
