A global mindset: new academic program at WVU will encourage cross-cultural collaboration
In a major step towards preparing students to succeed in the global market, the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the China University of Mining and Technology are teaming up to create a 3+1+1 academic program that will allow eligible students from CUMT to study at West Virginia University.

Team from Doddridge Middle School wins 32nd annual WVU Pumpkin Drop
Today, hundreds of pumpkins plummeted 11-stories from atop West Virginia University’s Engineering Sciences Building at the 32nd annual Pumpkin Drop. It was team 153 from Doddridge Middle School in West Union that went home with the top honors. Their pumpkin landed just one foot and two inches from the target, earning them the $100 first prize.
UPDATE: WVU clears Engineering Research Building after chemical accident
Affected chemical materials were removed from the Engineering Research Building Tuesday (Oct. 22) and normal operations resumed Thursday (Oct. 23) in the building. Students, faculty and staff in the ERB were sent home for the day (Tuesday, Oct. 22) as a precaution after a chemical accident inside one of the laboratories.
