WVU team receives ARC grant to develop smart utility grid technology in rural communities

Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded West Virginia University $1.5 million in funding to develop and deploy smart grid solutions and modeling services in rural parts of the eastern United States. This innovative project will lead to the formation of Smart Grid Deployment Consortium and HILLTOP+ Platform, which will test and model storage technology in smart grids and assist rural electric utilities by developing evaluation tools for energy storage.

Moriah Frazier: Protecting drones – by hacking them

Like most rising seniors at West Virginia University, Moriah Frazier began searching for the perfect capstone thesis project as she approached her final year at the University. But Frazier, who hails from Clarksburg, Maryland, is a cybersecurity major at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Mineral Resources and Engineering. A fairly new program, cybersecurity didn’t yet have many established capstone projects for her to choose from.

Statler college announces 2023 Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award recipients​

Pedro Mago, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University, and the Statler College Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, announced the recipients of the College’s Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award. The awards were distributed to the recipients in conjunction with WVU’s annual Diversity Week celebration.
